The emergence of the Balkan states is a fascinating and complex part of history. The Balkan Peninsula, located in Southeastern Europe, has a rich and turbulent history that has significantly shaped its modern identity.
Very well organised collection with avalanche of dates and governors for the every period of change.

Nice evening again with a good number of displays on various subjects - you probably knew the Mallard is a wild duck but what about Mallard the Locomotive? Have you seen the South Africa Stamps dedicated to the Gold Mine from 1930's to 1948? Or Western Europe stamps, picturing 22 different Monarchs of the XIX century - all on one page?
The list goes on of the things, discovered that night also the Trophies have been awarded.

Society Stamp Fair 2025
The society run an annual stamp fair with over twenty dealers covering all aspects of philately and stamp collecting. Free admission. Plenty of free parking alongside the Hall. Hot and cold refreshments will be available all day.

All trophies polished, engraved and presented to the winners also a Pizza.
Competition evening April 2024
A Society Trophy was awarded to
the best entry for each of the following competitions:
Society Cup – 16 sheets – any topic.
Gregson Trophy – 9 sheets – stamps.
Spencer trophy – 9 sheets – postal
history.`
Cusack Trophy – 9 sheets – thematic.
Exhibits have been entered in various following topics (aka philatelic classes):
Traditional (stamps), Aerophilately,
Postal History, Postal Stationery.
Revenues, Cinderellas.
Thematics.
Open (includes Social Philately) and
Picture Postcards.
General Rules
All competitions are open to all
members of the society.
A winning entry from a previous year
cannot be entered in the next two years’ competitions.
Marking for each competition is to
follow the marking guidelines of the North Western Federation of Philatelic
Societies unless otherwise stated.
All entries are to be of a Philatelic
subject unless the rules of the competition state otherwise.
Each trophy is to be held for one
year.
Members are responsible for the
security of their entries.
The competition secretary to be sole
judge or arbiter of all disputes related to these rules.
Members may submit more than one
entry for any competitions.
A competition may be cancelled by the
competition secretary due to lack of interest.
If there are less than three entries,
a competition may be cancelled.
Where formal scoring is used, it is
normal not to give scores below 50%.
Marking of competitions may be
recorded on forms provided by the competition secretary and returned to the
competition secretary.
Members must not vote for their own
entries in any competition.
